Don’t Give Up on AdSense

October 6th, 2009

Don’t even think about giving up on AdSense

For the past three years now I have been reading articles about AdSense being dead. Although the days of the $10 click are pretty much over, I wouldn’t consider AdSense anything less than one of the greatest money makers of our time.

Since beginning this blog a few weeks ago, I decided to revamp all my old sites and create a few new ones. I wanted to see if with a little tweaking and advertising I could make at least $100 a day from AdSense like so many others claim to.

The AdSense Fail

If you have statcounter as your webstats program, you can easily tell (to the second) when somebody clicks on one of your ads. I had noticed that I had gotten a few clicks without the AdSense program registering them at all.

That made me pretty angry and kind of scared. I thought to myself “Is AdSense even worth it anymore?”.

AdSense Hope

After a little bit of research I found that if people click on your ads “too soon”, you don’t get any credit for the clicks. At first I got very upset by this (a click is supposed to be a click), but immediately took action to make sure that my ads were lower on the page so they wouldn’t be clicked too soon.

AdSense Success

After I moved all my ads to below the content I started making a ton more revenue a day. And, my click values went up. At first I thought it was coincidence but I have done enough testing to know that it’s fact.

AdSense Advice

You have the choice to believe me or not. But, what I am telling you has really worked for me…..

Place ALL your ads and outbound links on your site to below the fold.  Don’t give the user much chance to click on outbound links.

Also, only use ONE AdSense for Content. This will increase the value of the clicks. (It is better to get 2 $2.00 clicks than 30  ten cent clicks.)

Let me know what you think?

It’s true that not all clicks are counted by Google because they have the so called valid and invalid clicks. Seems you have a good solution here, might give it a try.

Already tried the lesser ads and it really increased the value of every click. Thanks!

Adsense is not dead, just that a lot of people misuse it initially and got themselves into trouble.

Getting a high paid click is not hard, what you need to do is to dominate a keyword phrase that has traffic.

Google pays those that have first ranking the most when there is Adsense there.

So the trick is to rank first then earn money.

    9. Thanks for this very interesting tip.

I am new to Adsense. I had it on an eclectic blog and was only getting the odd click, even though the blog itself was getting hundreds of hits a day.

Then I put it on a couple of niche sites, and my earnings went up hugely. (Still only a couple of bucks a day, but compared to what it was this was a very big increase.) So, I learned that the more specific your site is, the more likely it is that people will click on your ads.

I haven’t tried different placement for ads as yet. But I’ll try and do this to see if I can further increase my earnings.

What do you mean by a reader is click the ad too soon? Do you mean before the page has fully loaded. Please explain.

I am using Adsense and get a few clicks per day but I would definitely like more. I was reading on problogger.net that he increased the size of his ads and he tripled his revenue. :)

      @Ms. Freeman
Sometimes a person has been on my page for 12 seconds and the click has not counted. That bothers me very much. It never shows up on AdSense that anyone clicked only on my statcounter stats.

AdSense still bring the most revenue to me for the moment. But its earning dropped lately. Might be the keyword issue. Anyway, it is still the best for me.
